Wooden Bucksaw Workshop
Wooden Bucksaw Workshop
The bucksaw is a collapsible, lightweight wooden frame saw used for sectioning larger timber and light felling – the perfect companion for a good quality axe. It’s clever mortice and tenon construction all held firm by the tensioning cord, comes apart quickly and easily when not in use and fits inside a narrow canvas sleeve so it can be carried in a rucksack for heavy duty camp building and woodland crafts.
This one day woodland based workshop will show you how to plan out and cut the mortice and tenon joints using hand tools (useful joinery skills for the future!) and your bucksaws will be made from planed seasoned English Oak, sealed with Danish oil. The canvas carry case complete with QR buckle and strap can either be hand stitched here in the woods or cut out and tacked for finishing at home on a sewing machine (full instructions are provided). Blade, wing nuts, strong cord, carry case materials and all tools and equipment are provided.
In 2022, this one day workshop has been twinned with the 'Leather Bag Workshop' giving you the option of booking both together as a package. The 'Kuksa Carving Workshop' continues immediately afterwards to allow you to stay on for FOUR solid days of crafting in the woods!
The working day will begin at 9am and we'll down tools at 5pm (although please be prepared to stay on a little longer if needed)
All tools, materials and hot drinks are provided however, please bring your own lunch and snacks.
If combining this workshop with the Leather Bag Workshop and maybe even the Kuksa Workshop, then you may camp overnight in the woods for the duration. Alternatively, local accommodation can be found here
This workshop can also be booked as private training for groups of two or more people. Please get in touch to choose your own date
